Our program will build foundations for lifelong learning. Activities will be modified for each child, per the Pyramid Model.

Our large, fenced-in yard is transforming into an amazing sensory playscape. We have dedicated a portion of the house, including our three-season porch, to indoor and outdoor explorations, sensory play, and “Wildcrafting”.

We will spend as much time as possible outside each day unless extreme temperatures or severe weather keeps us indoors. Changes of clothes, rain boots, waterproof coats, and winter outerwear are a must.

Kids might need a bath every day after school. Through our guidance, they will become experts at hand washing and might even tell parents how to wash their hands properly!

Besides a focus on nature awareness, we will be adding walking field trips, yoga, creative movement, dramatic play, noncompetitive sports, gardening, preservation, and composting projects. There will be visitors with expertise on topics such as agriculture, Native American folklore, etc. as well. We will also have pen pals from other pre-K programs around Rochester and hopefully, throughout the US and the world!

Parent, Family, & Community Involvement

Children's STEM Garden, LLC, has started a nonprofit effort to collect food scraps for compost. We hope to connect with local organizations to start the first-of-its-kind food scrap collection service as an active learning experience for our kids.

Family activities like gardening, field trips, movie nights, dinners, classes to preserve and sustain a healthy environment, and more can be offered. Your parent involvement in your child’s education is vital. We welcome you to take part in planning events and also sharing your family’s culture and celebrations.

Parents will be included on our informal Board of Advisors, which is already in place with former colleagues of our owner as existing members; they are also parents and NYS-licensed teachers.  Current advisors have searched our market for childcare and understand parents’ concerns. They have been a tremendous support for us to create The Children’s STEM Garden, LLC.

Our program will be a “living program” that will evolve and change per the needs of students and their families. Thus, your involvement as parents is welcome!

Our in-home, family pre-k childcare is limited to six children aged 2 to 5 years old, with wrap-around care for two school-age children. Meals and snacks are included. References are available.

Please contact me with any questions and to schedule a visit. We are located on a quiet street in Village Green East, Penfield, New York.
